Uptown Receives Corridor Improvement District!- Advance Uptown

Apr. 22nd, 2009

The Uptown Forward Team, Neighborhood Ventures and the City of Grand Rapids are excited to announce that Uptown is the first Corridor Improvement District (CID) in the City of Grand Rapids. It was voted unanimously last night by City Commission to create a Tax Increment Financing Authority that will provide sustainable funding to the four business districts (Eastown, East Fulton, East Hills and Wealthy Street).

This paves the way for other neighborhood business districts across the city to take charge of their own redevelopment process for projects such as public infrastructure, marketing, special events, parking improvements, storefront enhancements, beautification, etc. Uptown and its CID plan will be a model for communities statewide to turn neighborhood business districts around and make communities great places to live, work and play!
